Being Yourself

Posted by John Coxon on

Let's be clear. It's hard to be yourself, to remain true to your own values and be the person you want to be.

In our lives, our families, our workplaces and in our social life we are bombarded with messages setting out the expectations of others. Being ourself requires discipline and commitment.

What do you want to see when you look in the mirror? Do you like what you see?

To often we compare what we see in the mirror with the messages we receive from media, advertising, friends and family. Yet as an individual person you are already unique. You are special. You are worthy.

When was the last time you sat down and wrote out an image of you? What drives you each day, what are the values you want to live by? How do you want others to see you?

Whatever you write down is the real you. That unique individual person. Your vision is the start of you being yourself. Dependent upon noone else for who you are.

You gotta let the critics, the haters and the trolls go. Ignore them to the best of your ability. Yes in your mind you will hear their negativity - so replace it with positive affirmations about yourself. Keep reminding yourself of all the good things you have done today.

People are drunk on their own self created power. That is their trip, not yours. You have your own power, the power of self belief and understanding you can be anyone you want to be, and do anything you want to do.

Just say it out loud. Plan it. Do it. Celebrate life.
